*Sumilon Island Resort and its Famous White Sand Bar*
Eventually, the night before the event I decided to join the Cebu Bloggers’ Society and other Cebu-based bloggers for a day tour in Sumilon Island Resort. It was because some of my friends really tempted me to join. Thank you Guada and Beejing for the Words of Encouragement-in short ”sa pagtintal”…lol
Due to uncertainties and doubts if I could still join in the activity, I texted Sir Ruben for the confirmation. Several hours had past and Sir Ruben made no reply. To my frustrations, I decided to go to Mango Avenue and have a drinking spree. Luckily, at around 1:30 early in the morning I received a text from Sir Ruben confirming that I was still on the list. You are on the list, see you later at 6 am, He said. I was stunned and overjoyed! So getting drunk didn’t go to waste..hehe!
On a rainy saturday morning, I woke up still drunk and wasted, but despite that I still have managed to wake up that early just to join Sumilon Day Tour. Excited and worried at the same time, I have reached SM City Cebu, Northwing about 6:15 am. I wasn’t able to recognized that a damn driver was cheating on me. Imagine I have paid Php130 just from V. Rama to SM? But no worries though, coz i know he won’t escape from a sweet revenge called “karma”.
We left SM around 6:30 am and took our way to Oslob, Cebu through SRP road. We had a short stop over in Car-Car and Sir Ruben offered us a breakfast at Jollibee.
Around 10:30 in the morning, we’ve reached Oslob, Cebu where we had short refreshment at their Mainland Receiving area. We had a glass of lemon juice and a cold towel. We then took a ride through a vessel to the Sumilon Island. The atmosphere was quite adverse. But the cloudy sky, wavy oceans, and strong wind did not forbid us from going to the Island of Paradise, Sumilon Island. We had take a tour through the vessel circling the Island.
As we’ve stepped into the Island, Sumilon Island Resort Manager Sir Greg Perral and staffs welcomed us with their great hospitality. We headed to Resort’s Pavilion where we had a mouth-watering sandwich and a french fries. Sir Greg Perral had a short talk introducing himself to us and gave us a short preview of what Sumilon Island Resort could offer to the tourists. He had shared the History of Sumilon Island: Coastal towns near Sumilon Island have under constant threats of piracy. The local sentinels of the town built the “baluarte”- a lighthouse which served as a watchtower. It provides an early warning from any incoming attacks of invaders. Sumilon played a significant role to the fisherfolks in the community as this was being used as their hiding place during storms. It also enables them to continue fishing on the opposite part of the sea–free from storms because it is being covered by the Island.
Enough for the Sumilon History, moving on for the next happenings….
We roved on the 2 of the resort’s guest rooms. There are fourteen rooms all in all. Each room can accommodate a maximum of 3 guests. You would not surely ask for more because the room has everything for you: From Private veranda with lounge chair that offer views of the sea, cove, and mainland Cebu, Private toilet and shower with hot and cold running water, Mini bar, Ceiling Fan for extra coolness, an Internet Wi Fi connection to keep you updated with the latest in the internet world, Writing desk and dresser, Room to room telephone, and an Air condition unit.

After messing around in their elegant rooms (evil laugh), we had a group picture with Sir Greg Perral and Sir Bentot. We also had a “cam-whoring” with my fellow Industrial Engineer Prince Ryan Gilig and In-Dyi-Nears Mikyu, Aimee, Shalee and Jessa!nyahaha\m/

Lunch was already served so we have to stop camwhoring. A buffet lunch was waiting at the Resort’s Pavilion. Everybody had a great time eating huge variety of foods. There were some who forgot about their scheduled diets because foods were agreeably tempting. My stomach was fully loaded so I decided to walk around and wait for the foods to settle down to my intestine.

After an hour, everyone changed their clothes and jump into the Sumilon waters . First stop, snorkeling. We went down the shore to go snorkeling. However, the weather did not allow us so we just went kayaking in the island’s inland lagoon. After kayak session, we went trekking as we headed down to the resort’s famous White Sandbar which changes in shapes and shifts in other locations around the island, depending on the season.

It was fun behaving like a child, playing in to the ocean wave, without thinking the pain from the cuts and bruises we got as waves dragged as back to the shore. And then, there was a sandstorm dilema occurred. I was afraid that it might brought an unwanted events to happen but fortunately it eventually stopped. We were able to realized that we still have dreams in life to accomplish..wahahaha!

After that sandstorm, we all decided to take a rest and proceed to the Pavilion. Some of us went swimming at the Pavilion Swimming Pool. Some took a shower and changed clothes.
It was 6pm when we all got back to mainland Cebu and ride our way back to the city. I was really tired and exhausted but I still have the energy to smile because I was able to experienced that very wonderful place hiding just at the Southern part of Cebu.
I would say I made the right decision. We should sometimes be a risk-taker!hehehe
